Problems connecting after signing up and how to
recreate the DUN connection.


Symptoms
After signing up you have problems connecting to Freeserve


Cause
One possible cause may be that the Dial up connection is
either not installed or not configured correctly.

Solution
Recreate the Dial up connection, use the following solution
to do this.

Double click MY COMPUTER
Double click DIAL UP NETWORKING
Highlight Freeserve icon and press DELETE on keyboard
Double click MAKE NEW CONNECTION
Change name from MY CONNECTION to FREESERVE
Select the modem to be used for the connection and click
NEXT
Put 0845 in AREA CODE and 0796699 in TELEPHONE
NUMBER
Check the COUNTRY CODE is set to UNITED KINGDOM

Click NEXT and then FINISH
Right click on the Freeserve icon and left click on
PROPERTIES
Click on SERVER TYPES tab
Make sure there are NO ticks in the ADVANCED OPTIONS
section
Make sure that only TCP/IP is ticked in ALLOWED
NETWORK PROTOCOLS
Click on TCP/IP SETTINGS
Make sure that both radio buttons are set to SERVER
ASSIGNED
Make sure there is no tick in USE IP HEADER
COMPRESSION
Click on OK and OK again
Double click the Freeserve icon
Insert the username you created
(nodename.Freeserve.co.UK) and your password
Click on CONNECT and you should connect to Freeserve
