I can't send or receive emails, why?

Symptoms
I can't send or receive any emails.

Cause
Outlook Express may be set up incorrectly or trying to access a different ISP mail account

Solution
There are several solutions to this problem check all of the solutions below.

  • Solution 1.
    Check that the mail server settings are correct.

  • Solution 2.
    Check that you are not trying to access a different ISP's mail server. This is done by the solution below

    Open Outlook Express
    Click on TOOLS menu
    Click on ACCOUNTS
    Click on MAIL tab
    Highlight the account for your other ISP and click PROPERTIES
    Take the TICK out of "Include this account when doing a full Send and Receive"
    Click on APPLY and then OK
    Click on CLOSE

  • Solution 3.
    You may be in Offline mode, you need to go online to send and receive. You should be prompted to do this when you click on Send and Receive. To start the Dial-Up-Networking connection manually follow these steps.

    Double click MY COMPUTER
    Double click DIAL UP NETWORKING
    Double click on FREESERVE
