      Environmental Awareness

Recycling: we use eBay quite alot, and our contribution to reducing our carbon footprint is by re-using all the packaging we receive when we in turn ship out goods.

Virtualisation: we have reduced our four server setup to a single modern server with better power saving options running Windows 2008 server. This server runs VMWare server and Microsft Virtual Server designed to virtualise our other servers. The ingenuity lies in placing the server above heated areas and therefore making use of natural cooling - completely negating the need for AC Cooling.
Recycling pt.2: we can all do our part by home recycling, familiarise yourself with the location of your local recycling centre including electronics & white goods like fridges and microwaves. We offer customers the chance to allow us to decommission their old servers, PCs, and networks, whilst they take advantage of our upgrading or renewal services.

Technology: there will always be the need for snail mail, but we never underestimate the value of electronic media as a means to reduce our carbon footprint and hopefully yours. Convert documents to PDF and email them rather than faxing, or sending by snail mail. Avoid printing documents until/unless it is really necessary or needed.

VOIP: much has been said about the technology, but do you know home users can take advantage of VOIP over their own routers? Visit www.draytel.org for more information. We support Draytek technologies.

Technology pt.2: Multiple hosting or sharing of resources and solutions based upon file transfer protocol or gnutella filesharing - this way of thinking need not lead to copyright infringements as it currently does but for companies with well thought out procedures and adequate security measures, this could lead to a substantial reduction in the production of copied media e.g. DVDs & CD ROMs.

"...I have 3 CD/DVD rom pouches numbering a total of nearly 200 disks that I have to lug around with me in case I need drivers or operating systems when I visit sites. It is ultimately more convenient for me to download an app. from our ftp site whilst at the customer's location. Flash drive would be better...but they don't hold enough information!" reports Firmin Frederick, founder B.O.G.A. IT Solutions, in December 2008

We are also great fans of using remote admin packages such as "Logmein" allowing us to reduce driving time to and from customer sites and thus further reducing our carbon footprint.
