Our archive section remembers legends like Jack Johnson and Althea Gibson, who beat the colour bar as well as fellow-competitors, to win World Championships and Grand Slam tournaments, more that 50 years ago.  And there's many more to come.

The Black contribution to sport is enormous and we salute every competitor big and small. But the successes would be even greater if there was a level playing field. BlaqSport will campaign and cajole to make this happen.

We will also be fearless in tackling thorny issues like racism and the scandal of drugs in sport. Interest in Black sportswomen and men goes beyond the African-Caribbean and Asian communities, and we will reflect that diversity.
